Onion reports:

Fall Canceled After 3 Billion Seasons

DC, WASHINGTON—Fall, the long- running series of shorter days and cooler nights, was canceled earlier this week after nearly 3 billion seasons on Earth, sources reported Tuesday.

It had a good run. Personally, I think 3 billion seasons were too long. In my opinion, no show should last beyond 20 seasons.

Battle over PATRIOT Act appeal brews as critical testimony is gagged

Ars Technica reports:

The government has appealed a September federal court ruling that struck down the National Security Letter (NSL) provision of the PATRIOT Act. The NSL provision, which can be used without probable cause or judicial oversight, gives the FBI the ability to secretly demand access to the private records of libraries, Internet service providers, and other organizations. National Security Letters also impose gag restrictions on recipients, which forbid them from disclosing that they have received the letter.

And I thought Catch-22 was possible only in a fiction. Dang. If you didn’t get the notice, of course you can’t talk about it, and if you got this god-damned National “Security” Letter, then you can’t talk about because of the gag order.

Who are these creeps taking their cues from?
